Iype Varghese, the third son of Pothan Iype, was born on the 29th November 1880. Varghese was doing farming along with his brother Yohannan. The 300 acres of forest land bought in Vazhoor was cleared and cultivated adventurously. Like his predecessors, he was also keenly interested in ecclesiastical matters. Ullayam St. George Jacobite church and Ericadu St. Mary’s Jacobite church were established by giving his own land for free. He dedicated his son Philippose, to the service of the church and encouraged him to take priesthood at an early age. He also showed interest in setting up a school at Mattathilparambil, on the side of the Kottayam – Karukachal road.
Varghese was a hard worker and a good natured entertainer. Due to his deep knowledge of carpentry, many people came to him for help, in preparing the estimates and position of their home. Puthuppally Vazheparambil Annamma was his wife. After her death, he married Kunjannamma, daughter of Ancheri Ilakkattukadupil Joseph Kathanar. In the first marriage, there were sons, Iype, Philippose and daughters Aleyamma, Mariamma and Sosamma.
