Iype Kurian (Kuriachen, 7)

Iype Kurian, son of Kurian Iype (Jr) was born in 1874. Due to his father’s ill health, he had to take care of the family affairs at an early age. As a result, household income increased. He was a man of extraordinary intelligence and courage. He had bought and reared two elephants in share with the Kallarackal family. He married Puthuppally Kannukuzhiyil Kochuthomman apothecary’s daughter Mariamma. They had two sons, Iype and Thomas, and a daughter Mariam (called ‘Paatta’). Iype Kurian died in 1920 at the age of 46. Mariamma died on 12^th October 1955. Both were cremated at Horeb Marthoma church, Puthuppally.
