Ericadu Moria Marthoma church
Iype Yohannan’s eldest son, Iype was, born on the 5th June 1901. After completing his matriculation studies, Iype settled in Ullayam. He was a good planter. Like his father, he also paid special attention in the supervision of educational institutions and in the completion of the Ullayam Marthoma church. He has long served as the Vice President and Trustee of the church. He was the first president of Vazhoor Gramapanchayath. Due to his efforts, many roads were built in that area. A U.P. school was established under the management of Iype. He took a strong stand against the caste untouchabilites that existed in Ullayam area, at that time. He took initiatve in establishing the Vazhoor Block Development office near Ullayam. He promptly did daily diary writing and account book preparation. He was a father who loved his children and grandchildren very much and took special care to bring them up in God’s trust and guided them through the right path. He took a keen interest in his children’s education and therefore all of them earned post-graduate degrees. He was a man of deep faith in God, deep love of humanity and perfect hard work. He married Kottayam Varikattu Valavuchirackal Itty Avara’s daughter Akkamma. They have sons, John, Abraham, Baby & daughters, Thankamma and Aleyamma (Kunjamma). Iype died on 5th July 1991 at the age of 90. Akkamma died on 18th May 1984 at the age of 82. Both were cremated at Ericadu Moria Marthoma church. A cash award has been instituted in the name of Iype, to the student in Puthenpurackal family, who secures maximum marks in the S.S.L.C. examination.
