Pothan Pothan Sr (Kunjappan, 7)

Kaithayil Pothan Kuruvilla’s 3rd son, K.K. Abraham and Kaithayil Varghese Pothan’s 2nd son, Pothan Pothan Sr moved to the Pappalaparambil homestead. It is their descendants that belong to the Pappalaparambil Sub-branch. Pothan Pothan Sr bought his own land in Pampanar and started farming. A cattle rearing centre was also established there. He married Unnichiamma of the Kottayam Panampunnayil Thondukuzhiyil family. They have sons Pothan, Chacko & daughters Innamma and Mariakutty. Both the daughters died of pneumonia at an young age. Pothan passed away in 1935 at the age of 40. Even though Pothan joined the Marthoma church, he was buried at Puthuppally Valiyapally like his fathers. Unnichiamma has also passed away.
