Akkamma

When Iype Mathai Sr was only 11 years old, he married Akkamma, the elder daughter of Puthuppally Karottu Anthrayose, who was 10 years old. Mrs. Akkamma is Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s paternal mother’s sister. They had sons named Andrew, Iype, Kurian, Chandy, Mathai & George. Akkamma died on 30^th May 1947 at the age of 58 and was cremated at Puthuppally Nilackal Orthodox church.
