C.V.Philippose (Philippochen, 7)

C.V. Philippose, the eldest son of Philippose Varghese after completing high school education also obtained T.T.C. At that time, when there was no U.P. school at Thottackad, Meenadom and Pampady areas, Philippose along with the help of some prominent people in the area, started an English Medium School (T.M.U.U.P.S.). He taught in this school (until it was recognised) without remuneration for about six years. After obtaining recognition, he still continued as a teacher in the school till his retirement. He also actively participated in various activities for the progress of the area. He served as a Sunday school inspector of Jacobite church. At that time, he was attracted to the Pentecostal faith and became a member of that church. He joined Kumbanad Hebron Bible school and studied the word of God. Later he went to many places and gave gospel sermons. He has served as a teacher in various Bible schools. At a time when there was no Sunday school curriculum in Pentecostal church, he prepared textbooks and published it. He was a member of the committee preparing the I.P.C. Sunday school books. He served as the Vice President of I.P.C., Pampady center for a long time. When the Puthuppally center was formed, he was appointed as its first Pastor. He gave free land and financial assistance to build a meeting hall and parsonage for the Thottackad I.P.C.  He also showed a lot of interest in agriculture activities. He was one of the first persons who started cocoa cultivation in Thottackad. He was very eager to help others. Meenadom Puthenpurackal Mathachen’s daughter, Marykutty was his wife. They had sons, George, Mathew & daughters, Gracy (Gracykutty) and Moly (Molykutty). Philippose, who served as a social activist, an accomplished teacher and a great evangelist passed away on 23^rd December 1991 at the age of 83. Marykutty passed away on 15^th September 2011 at the age of 90. Both were cremated at Parakkamala I.P.C. cemetery.
