C.V.Philippose (Philippochen, 7)

Philippose Varghese’s eldest son, Philippose after completing high school education obtained T.T.C. At a time when there was no U.P. school at Thottackad, Meenadom and Pampady areas, Philippose along with the help of some prominent people in the area started an English Medium School called T.M.U.U.P.S. He taught in this school without remuneration for about six years. After obtaining recognition, he continued as a teacher in the school till his retirement. He participated in various activities for the overall development of the area. He served as a Sunday school inspector of Jacobite church. At that time, he was attracted to the Pentecostal faith and became a member of that church. He joined Kumbanad Hebron Bible school and studied the word of God. Later he went to many places and gave gospel sermons. He served as teacher in various bible schools. At a time when there was no sunday school curriculum in Pentecostal church, he prepared textbooks and published it. He was a member in the committee preparing I.P.C. sunday school books. He served as the Vice President of Pampady I.P.C. for a long time. When the Puthuppally I.P.C. was formed, he was appointed as its first Pastor. He gave free land and financial assistance to build a meeting hall and parsonage to the Thottackad I.P.C.  He also showed keen interest in agricultural activities. He was one of the first persons who started cocoa cultivation in Thottackad. Meenadom Puthenpurackal Mathachen’s daughter, Marykutty is his wife. They have sons George, Mathew & daughters Gracy (Gracykutty) and Moly (Molykutty). Philippose, who was very eager to help others served as a social activist, an accomplished teacher and a great evangelist. He passed away on 23^rd December 1991 at the age of 83 and Marykutty passed away on 15^th September 2011 at the age of 90. Both were buried at I.P.C. cemetery, Parakkamala.
