Iype Kurian (Kuriachen, 7)

Kurian Iype’s eldest son, Iype Kurian was born in 1874. Due to his father’s ill health, he had to take care of the family affairs at an early age. As a result, household income increased. He was a man of extraordinary intelligence and courage. He bought and reared two elephants in share with Kallarackal family. He married Puthuppally Kannukuzhiyil Kochuthomman Apothecary’s daughter, Mariamma. They had two sons, Iype and Thomas & a daughter Mariam (called ‘Paatta’). Iype Kurian passed away in 1920 at the age of 46 and Mariamma passed away on 12^th October 1955. Both were buried at Horeb Marthoma church, Puthuppally.
