Varghese Iype’s elder son, Jacob was born in 1892. He passed matriculation. He had an eventful life. Fascinated by the theories of ‘Swadeshi’, ‘Indian Independence’ and ‘Gandhism’, Jacob left Kerala and stayed at Sevagram and Sabarmathi ashrams, for a long time. He wore clothes which were spun in the charka by himself. He took part in the 1st World war as a soldier in the Royal Indian Army. He also stayed with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He took part in the ‘Uppu Satyagraham’ of Gandhiji. As a freedom fighter, he maintained a personal relationship with Jawaharlal Nehru and other national leaders. As the founder of Pampady Public Library and Dairy Development Group & organizer of various movements, he did a meritorious service. It was his own book collection, which he arranged at home for the natives, that later grew and flourished into Pampady Public Library today. The picture of founder Jacob is kept on display in the library. He also took initiative in educating the native people. He always upheld some moral values of life. The native people respectfully called him as ‘Valyachen’. After getting independence and after Gandhiji’s death, Gandhian ideals and thoughts, slowly perished from the leaders of the nation. So he left Sevagram and returned to Kerala. He was disappointed and, as a result, he became a communist activist. He was also the author of some books containing teachings and theories of communist thoughts. Puthuppally Ancheri Pulickal Poulose’s only daughter Ilachiyamma was his wife. The family also received her properties. They had two daughters named Kunjamma and Kunjannamma. The eldest daughter Kunjamma, was unmarried and stayed at Pulickal. The younger daughter Kunjannamma was married to Puthuppally Thonippurackal Jacob Vidyan. They had a son named Jacob and a daughter named Valsamma. Kunjappan died on 24th April 1970 at the age of 78. He was cremated at Pampady Holy Emmanuel C.S.I. church. Ilachiyamma died on 10th June 1984 and was cremated at Pariyaram St. Peter’s Orthodox church.
