K.I.John Sr (Kunju, 8)

K.J. Iype’s eldest son, John obtained B.A. & C.A. graduation and started practicing in Kottayam. He was the chariot of Cheriyan & Cheriyan Chartered Accountants, Kottayam. He actively participated in the social and cultural scenes of Kottayam. John, who was the president of Kottayam Rotary club has received the Paul Harris award for outstanding community service. He served as the Treasurer of Manganam Mundakapadam Mandirams, for a long time. He rendered meritorious service as Marthoma church representative council member, Legal Affairs committee member and member of the Governing board of St. Thomas Residential school, Thiruvananthapuram. He was a member of the Commission for Taxation Laws and the Central Taxation Advisory Committee appointed by the Government of Kerala. He also served as the President of Chartered Accountants Association, Kottayam and President of Kottayam Games and Sports Promotion society. He has presented various papers on Taxation and Company Laws in local and national seminars. He was the Secretary of Puthenpurackal Kudumbhayogam, for a long time. Kottayam Valanjaattil V.K. Cherian’s daughter, Kamala is his wife. She actively worked in various social organizations like Y.W.C.A. She was the founder Secretary of the Inner wheel section (Rotarians Wives’ club) of the Kottayam Rotary club. She also served as the President of Kottayam Y.W.C.A., several times. They lived at Baker junction, Kottayam. They have sons, Iype and Ramesh & daughters Reeba, Reena, Susan and Riza. K.I. John passed away on 11th August 2023 at the age of 93 and Kamala passed away on 11th September 2025 at the age of 92. Both were cremated at Moria Marthoma church, Ericadu.
