St. John's Cathedral, Pampady
Varghese Iype’s third son, Kurian was, born on the 2nd December 1910. He was a good farmer. He was the owner of the bull market in Pampady. Kuriachen, who was well built, was an attractive personality. He gave one and a half acres of land, free of cost to Pampady St. John’s Cathedral church. He was one of the main founders of the Reeth church in Pampady. He was also among the delegates from Kottayam, who attended the Vattiyoorkkavu Freedom Struggle Congress meeting. Later, he became an active worker of the communist movement in Pampady, along with his brother Kunjappan. Kurian’s wife was Eethamma (Pennamma), the daughter of Manarcadu Cherukunnel Chacko. They had three sons, named Iype, Jacob and Kurian (Koch) and a daughter named Rachel (Thankakutty). Kuriachen passed away on the 3rd December 1992 at the age of 82. Eethamma died on 22nd July 1993 at the age of 72. Both were cremated at St. John’s Cathedral, Pampady.
