Puthuppally Nilackal Orthodox church
Iype Mathai (Sr)’s second son, Iype was born on the 5th December 1907. After completing his B.A. & L.T. graduation, he worked as a Teacher in the M.D. Seminary High school, Kottayam, for two years. He served as Assistant for 23 years and Headmaster for 14 years in St. George High school, Puthuppally, which is now a Govt. High School. He was an accomplished orator and convention speaker. He actively led various socio-spiritual activities in Puthuppally. Since the inception of the famous Nilackal convention, he has been the Secretary, continuously for 24 years. He has rendered commendable service as a member of the managing committee of Orthodox church, member of the Sunday School Syllabus committee, member of the Text Book committee in the Department of Education and member of the Managing committee of Manganam Agathimandiram and Mandiram hospital. A master of illustrious disciples, he established his reputation as a model teacher, speaker, writer and organizer. He was a compassionate and altruistic father. He has published many articles and books related to Bible. He married Aachiamma, who was the daughter of Puthuppally Thonippurackal Vakkayil Cherian. They had sons, Mathew, Cherian and Andrews, and a daughter, Raimol. They moved from the Thekkayil family house to Mundackal house. Iype died on 8th November 1994 at the age of 86. Aachiamma died on 15th February 1986. Both were cremated at Puthuppally Nilackal Orthodox church.
