Philipose Pothan (Kochutti, 6)

Philipose Kathanar’s 3rd son, Pothan moved from Thottackad to Kuzhiyadithara Vaddakeparambu homestead. It is his descendants that belong to the Vadakkeparambil branch. Philipose Pothan was born in 1877. He was a good farmer. He married Puthuppally Padinjarekkuttu Yacob Kathanar’s daughter, Aachiamma. After Aachiamma’s death, he remarried Sosamma, who is the daughter of Meenadom Parackal Punnachen. They have sons Pothan, Punnen, John & daughter Chinnamma. Pothan joined Marthoma church and did evangelistic works like Publicity meetings and Sunday School. He was enthusiastic and held responsibilites in the establishment of Maragattu school and Ericadu Moria Marthoma church. Pothan passed away on 28^th December 1962 at the age of 85 and Sosamma passed away on 12^th August 1987 at the age of 103. Both were buried at Moria Marthoma church, Ericadu.
