Philippose Varghese (6)

Varghese, the eldest son of Philippose Kathanar moved to Chalumthalackal. It is his descendants that belong to the Chalumthalackal sub-branch. Varghese was born in 1873. He showed a great interest in agriculture. As a result of this father’s efforts, the Puthuppally – Thottackad road was widened and made accessible to bullock carts. He married Achamma, the daughter of Puthuppally Thonippurackal Vattamala Pothachen. They moved to Chalumthalackal. They had sons, Philippose, George and daughters, Ilachiamma, Kocheliyaamma, Kunjakkamma and Mariamma. Varghese died on 18^th July 1930 at the age of 57. Achamma passed away in 1945. Both were cremated at Mar Aphrem Orthodox church, Thottackad.
