Serin obtained M.Sc. and B.Ed. degree and was a teacher. She is married to Mathew (Sony), son of Kottayam Kiliroor Cherickal Kuriakose. Sony is working as the Life Insurance Divisional Manager of State Bank of India in Karnataka. They have two sons, Cyril and Abel. They live near the family house.
