Iype Yohannan’s 4th son, Mathew obtained B.Com degree from Culcutta University and Diploma in Physical Education from the Y.M.C.A. college of Physical Education, Chennai. He served as the Physical Education teacher at Samoothiri college, Kozhikode, St. Aloysius college, Mangalore and C.M.S. college, Kottayam. He was a member of the governing committee of various sports organizations in Kottayam. He was the 1st Secretary of the District Sports Council. T.J. Mathew who was interested in politics was also a freedom fighter. He was the 1st President of the undivided Congress in Puthuppally constituency. He served as a member of the Puthuppally Grama Panchayath and also as the Honorary Administrative officer of Mundakapadam Mandiram hospital. He was also the president of Puthuppally Y’s Men’s club. After retiring from C.M.S. college, he engaged in various public affairs and agriculture. He was the Vice-President of Ericadu Moria Marthoma church. Thus he gave valuable contributions in political, social, cultural and communal fields. He was a person who took a strong stance and constantly fought for truth and justice. He was the Vice-President of Puthenpurackal Kudumbayogam. At 100, T.J. Mathew was the oldest member in the family. He married Vakathanam Ennasseril Mangalath Ammini. They lived in the family house at Ericadu. They have sons, John, Abraham, Iype & daughters, Ashly and Sybil. T.J. Mathew passed away on 1st November 2015 at the age of 101 and Ammini passed away on 23rd April 2011 at the age of 89. Both were buried at Moria Marthoma church, Ericadu.
