Shibu’s wife is Muhamma Kalarickal K.C. Varghese’s daughter, Jessy Varghese. She is an M.A. (Education, Malayalam, Sociology) & B.Ed graduate and was a teacher in C.M.S. Higher Secondary school, Kottayam. She is the recipient of the prestigious Guru Shreshta Award in 2020, Global Teacher Award in 2021 and the Bharat Shiksha Puraskar in 2021. She retired as the Principal of B.I.T.T.I. (Buchanan Institutions Teacher Training Institute), Pallom. She also obtained Ph.D in Education from the University of Technology (UOT), Jaipur in 2026. They live in Chalukunnu, Kottayam. They have two sons, Arah & Aaron.
