P.J.Kawmos (7)

Yohannan Kathanar’s eldest son Kawmos was born on the 11^th March 1907. He was named after the biblical name Kawmo. Later, his colleagues modified it to Kawmos. He graduated from Government College, Thiruvananthapuram with a B.A. degree. Being the first graduate of Thottackad parish, he has won a gold medal from the parish. He was a teacher at Mannanam English High school and Kottayam M.D. Seminary school. For some period, he was manager of the bank at Kottayam, which was owned by his maternal uncle. He served as a teacher in Puthuppally St. George High school (now Govt. High school), for a long time. He was an exemplary teacher, who truly loved his students and taught them with dedication. He was known as an excellent teacher, fondly remembered by many disciples, in and around Puthuppally. He married Ayamanan Vattakkattil Yohannachen’s daughter, Mariamma (niece of Baselios Mathews I Catholicos). They settled in Pazhamthottil. They have sons, John, Philip and a daughter Elizabeth (Alice). Kawmos died on 3^rd September 1981 at the age of 76. Mariamma died on 27^th June 1995 at the age of 77. Both were cremated, in their family grave at Mar Aphrem Orthodox church, Thottackad.
