P.J.Kawmos (7)

Yohannan Kathanar’s eldest son Kawmos was named after the biblical name Kawmo. Later, his colleagues modified it to Kawmos. He graduated from Government College, Thiruvananthapuram with a B.A. degree. Being the first graduate of Thottackad parish, he won a gold medal from the parish. He was a teacher at Mannanam English high school and Kottayam M.D. Seminary high school. For some period, he was manager of a bank at Kottayam, which was owned by his maternal uncle. He served as a teacher in Puthuppally St. George high school (now a Govt. high school), for a long time. He was an exemplary teacher who truly loved his students and taught them with dedication. He was known as an excellent teacher, fondly remembered by many disciples in and around Puthuppally. He married Ayamanan Vattakkattil Yohannachen’s daughter, Mariamma (niece of Baselios Mathews I Catholicos). They settled in Pazhamthottil. They have sons, John & Philip and a daughter Elizabeth (Alice). Kawmos passed away on 3^rd September 1981 at the age of 74 and Mariamma passed away on 27^th June 1995 at the age of 77. Both were cremated at Mar Aphrem Orthodox church, Thottackad.
