Varghese Pothan, the second son of Pothan Varghese, moved to the Kaithayil homestead. It is his descendants that belong to the Kaithayil Sub-branch. Varghese Pothan moved to Pampady, but due to diabetes, he came back and settled in the Kaithayil homestead. Pothan’s properties in Pampady are still held by his heirs. His first wife was a member of Kanam Thottaparambil family. He later re-married Annamma of the Puthuppally Pongallil family. Varghese Pothan had a daughter, Sosamma, from his first marriage and sons, Kuruvilla and Pothan, from his second marriage. Kuruvilla stayed at Kaithayil and Pothan at Pappalaparambil. Sosamma, the only daughter was married to Puthuppally Paret family. The only daughter of this couple, Kunjamma was married to Puthuppally Vazheparambil Abraham. Even though she was the sole heir to his father’s properties, she did not get the entire property. When there were some disputes with the paternal relatives, her uncles helped Kunjamma a lot. Kunjamma was in a more intimate relationship with the Kuzhiyadithara family until her death. Varghese Pothan passed away at the age of 42.
