Wife of Pothan Varghese

Pothan Varghese married a girl from the Thottackad Chethimattom family. There is a story about this marriage. Father Pothan, who went to Thottackad forest for hunting was tired when he came back. So he reached Chethimattom house for resting. At that time there was only a girl in that house and the rest were at the church. The zeal shown by the girl in entertaining a stranger, impressed Pothan very much. He wanted that girl to marry his son Varghese and so he invited her father to Kuzhiyadithara before leaving that house. Thus began their deliberation and intimacy which finally ended in the marriage. Chethimattom, being a Roman Catholic family was not a hindrance to the marriage. They had sons Kurian, Pothan, Jacob, Iype, Varghese, Thomas & a daughter.
